Funding the CCF Movement

Since it’s founding, Community-Centric Fundraising has relied heavily on a limited number of grants and has not yet built the long-term fundraising infrastructure needed to sustainably support the scale of work we’re at. The movement’s growth has outpaced the systems sustaining it. We have evolved from a blog post and a set of guiding principles into an international movement that has changed the way organizations, fundraisers, and philanthropic institutions think about fundraising, power, and community. We currently support:

  • The Content Hub, a free educational resource featuring essays, podcasts, art, poetry, and practical fundraising guidance, and the only platform (that we know of) where fundraisers can challenge toxic norms without fear, ensuring our sector can move toward true equity;
  • Paid publishing and speaking opportunities that prioritize fundraisers of color and other marginalized voices;
  • Community spaces for fundraisers to connect, learn, and organize together;
  • Local chapters across North America;
  • The Family Reunion conference and other broad movement-building efforts;
  • The development of future educational programs, advocacy efforts, and leadership opportunities.

All, unfortunately, on a shoestring budget.

How you can help:

We could use your help with these five T’s:

  • TreasureDonate directly to the movement. Give a one-time, set up a monthly, or give Multi-Year General Operating Dollars (MYGOD, according to Vu Le) to sustain the work. If you wish to give a donation via check, reach out to Jenny to discuss how best to do that.
  • Talent — Donate your skills to the movement. Fill out our volunteer form and select “fundraising committee” to donate your talent specifically toward our fundraising need, or select a different skillset you’d like to offer.
  • Time — Donate your time to volunteer for a task that needs doing. Between our three staff, we amount to 1.5 positions. That means we could really use some help doing tasks. Fill out our volunteer form and select “Archive Slack” or “Do admin work” to donate your time to tasks that need doing or email Jenny if you’d like to dedicate some time to reaching out to our short list for solicitation.
  • Ties — Connect the movement with people, organizations, corporations, and funders you believe are values-aligned and would provide Multi-Year General Operating Dollars or resources we need. Email Jenny to discuss how best to connect us with these people, organizations, corporations, and funders.
  • Testimony — Write a testimony about how CCF principles have changed the way you fundraise, or other ways the movement has impacted your life and email that testimony to Chris to help in our fundraising campaign.

 If others won’t fund the movement, we’ve gotta fund ourselves!

Thank you to Possibility Labs for being our fiscal sponsor.
